There's a lot of power in knowing yourself. When you know who you are, what you want, and what makes you tick, you're in a much better position to achieve your goals and live a happy, fulfilling life.

Here are some other benefits resulting from knowing yourself better:

  1. You'll make better decisions.

When you know yourself, you know what you want and need out of life. As a result, you're better able to make decisions that are in your best interest. You're also less likely to be swayed by others' opinions or peer pressure.

  1. You'll achieve greater happiness.

Happiness comes from within. When you know who you are and what you want, you're more likely to be content with your life. You won't waste time and energy chasing after things that don't matter to you or that don't make you happy.

  1. You'll have healthier relationships.

Healthy relationships are built on a foundation of self-knowledge. When you know yourself, you're better able to communicate your needs and boundaries to others. As a result, you're less likely to end up in relationships that are unhealthy or unsatisfying.

  1. You'll be more successful.

Self-knowledge is a powerful tool for success. When you know your strengths and weaknesses, you can play to your strengths. You're also more likely to take risks that pay off and to stick with your goals even when the going gets tough.

  1. You'll live a more authentic life.

I talk a lot about this - an authentic life is one that's true to who you are. When you know yourself, you're able to live in a way that's authentic and genuine. You'll stop trying to be someone you're not and start truly being yourself.

  1. You'll have a greater sense of purpose.

A sense of purpose is one of the keys to a happy and fulfilling life. When you know yourself, you're better able to find your purpose in life. As a result, you're more likely to lead a life that's meaningful and satisfying.

  1. You'll be more resilient.

Resilience is the ability to bounce back from setbacks and challenges. When you know yourself, you're better able to deal with difficult situations and to recover from adversity, being more likely to achieve your long-term goals and dreams.

  1. You'll be more flexible.

Flexibility is an important quality for success. When you know yourself, you're better able to adapt to change and to take advantage of new opportunities.

  1. You'll have a richer and more fulfilling life.

A rich and fulfilling life is one that's full of love, joy, and purpose. When you know yourself, you're more likely to lead a life that's rich and fulfilling, experiencing long-lasting happiness and satisfaction.

The benefits of knowing yourself are clear, but where to start?

Here are a few tips to help you on your journey of self-discovery:

  1. Be curious about yourself.

Ask yourself questions about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Why do you think and feel the way you do? Why do you behave the way you do? What's important to you? What ticks you off? Where do you feel in alignment? What things cause you to feel out of alignment?

  1. Pay attention to your emotions.

Your emotions are like a compass that can guide you to your true north, and what's important in life. If you're feeling lost or confused, take a step back and check in with your emotions. What are they telling you?

  1. Keep a journal.

You know me, I'm Queen of journalling ... writing down your thoughts and feelings can help you make sense of them and see patterns that you might not otherwise notice.

  1. Be honest with yourself.

It's impossible to truly know yourself if you're not being honest about who you are.

If you're not sure where to start, try doing a 10-minute brain dump in which you write down everything that's on your mind, no matter how random or trivial it might seem.

  1. Seek feedback from others.

Other people can often see things about us that we're blind to. Ask for feedback from people who know you well and who you trust. They might just have some insights that help you better understand yourself.

  1. Experiment and take risks.

Part of knowing yourself is figuring out what makes you tick. So don't be afraid to experiment and try new things. You never know, you might just discover something that you love!

  1. Be patient with yourself.

The journey of self-discovery can be a long and winding one. We are gorgeous, yet complex human beings, made up of many colourful parts. Be patient with yourself as you peel back the layers to get to know more about who you are.

Self-knowledge is a lifelong journey, but it's one that's well worth taking. The benefits are clear, and the more you know about yourself, the better equipped you'll be to live a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life. So, what are you waiting for? Start exploring!
